OSELC Sunnyside

Summer of service

July 4 heralds the start of summer and this July is no different.

OSELC is plunging into summer with a host of activities.

It all starts Sunday, July 10, with a summer barbecue right after the 10 a.m. Worship service.

The fun then picks up with Vacation Bible School Tuesday through Thursday, July 12-14. VBS is 9 a.m. to noon each day at Sunnyside United Methodist Church, 906 E. Edison Ave.image

Our Saviour’s will also offer its regular outreach efforts such as a quilting group at 9 a.m. on July 16 and family game night at 5:30 p.m. on July 22.

So, join us for a summer of sun, a summer of service!

Lenten season

During the season leading up to Easter Sunday on March 27, Our Saviour’s is meeting 7 p.m. each Wednesday for Lenten services at Sunnyside United Methodist Church, 906 E. Edison Ave. There is a potluck supper at 6 p.m. right before the service.

This time of remembrance and commitment culminates with special plans for Easter Sunday, March 27. OSELC will offer an early SonRise service, followed by breakfast and the traditional Easter service at 10 a.m.

Red Wine and Chocolate

imageFeb. 14 is on a Sunday this year and in keeping with Valentine’s Day, Our Saviour’s is once again hosting a Red Wine and Chocolate event. After the 10 a.m. Worship service on Feb. 14, OSELC will have red wine and chocolate accompanied by hors d’oeuvres provided by members.

A minimum donation of $5 per person is requuested, with all proceeds benefitting the church’s ministries in the community.

During the celebration a raffle drawing for a homemade quilt is also planned.

Season’s givings

Christmas is more than season’s greetings, it’s a season of giving at Our  Saviour’s. That includes an Angel Tree program in which members can provide Christmas presents for children in need.image

Also coming up this season is OSELC’s dinner theater performance of Christmas Letters: The Musical at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

At 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, OSELC will also host a Longest Night/Blue Christmas service. Held in conjunction with several other chuches, the service is intended to offer spiritual support for those are grieving or are depressed.

The season’s givings concludes with Our Saviour’s annual Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24. The candlelit service will include special music and encouragement.

Please join us for any or all of these opportunities for fellowship and sharing during the Christmas season.
