Annual BBQ!

Our Saviour’s will hold its annual BBQ on Sunday, July 12, beginning at 11 a.m.

The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings!

OSELC members are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share and a $5 donation is requested as a fundraiser for the church’s ministeries.

June Blooms

Opportunities to bless others will be blooming in June as Our Saviour’s will participate in several outreach efforts to serve the community during the month.image

In June, OSELC will:

– Participate in the Sunnyside baccalaureate service for the class of 2015 on Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. In the SHS auditorium.

– Hold a special celebration to honor our 2015 grads during worship service on Sunday, June 7.

– Conduct a yard sale fundraiser on Saturday, June 20.

– Participate in a 2nd Harvest food distribution on Tuesday, June 23, in conjunction with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grandview.

By the way, bookending the month of June is game night at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, and vacation Bible school, July 8-10, with details to follow.

Feel free to share in any or all of these outreach opportunities as we at OSELC look forward to a June with service in bloom!

Yard Sale!

imageOSELC’s annual church yard sale is Saturday, June 20.

Items are being sought for donations, and volunteers will be needed to help sort items.

Typically more than $1,000 is raised through the yard sale, which helps support the ministries of the church in the community.

The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. In the church’s fellowship area.

Game Night!

imageOSELC will hold its monthly game night ths coming Saturday, May 30, starting at 5:30 p.m.

All are invited for this free get together and food will be provided.

Games will be available…or you can bring your favorite board or card gsme.

Join us Saturday for a good time of good fellowship and good food!

Crop Walk

OSELC will be one of many Sunnyside churches participating in the 11th annual Crop Walk on Saturday, March 21, at 9 a.m. at Chief Kamiakin Elementary School.image

The annual fundraising event is a way to bring attention to the issue of world hunger.

A fourth of the money raised during the local hunger walk will be donated to area food banks. The remainder will be donated to the Church World Service, a partnership of 37 different Christian denominations working around the world to provide disaster relief, fight hunger, provide clean and safe water and foster self-development.

Baptism and a bake sale

A full day is planned this coming Sunday, Feb. 22, as a baptism will be held during the 10 a.m. worship service at Our Saviour’s.image

Immediately after worship, a bake sale will be held as a fundraiser for the ministries of our ladies’ group, WELCA.

Come to celebrate new birth…and stay to share in some home-baked goodies!

Lenten services and suppers

Our Saviour’s will begin offering midweek Lenten services each Wednesday in Lent starting on Feb. 25.image

The evening will begin with a supper of soup and bread at 6 p.m., followed by a worship service at 7 p.m.

All are welcome!

Ash Wednesday

Our Saviour’s is marking the season of Lent starting on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18.c-of-e-lent

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 18, OSELC Pastor Katrina Walther will join two other pastors in offering Ashes on the Go outside Sunnyside United Methodist Church on the corner of Edison Avenue and Ninth Street.

At 7 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, OSELC will participate in an ecumenical worship service at Sunnyside Prebyterian Church.

All are welcome!

Taizé Worship Service

Twice in the next six weeks Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will partner with three other Sunnyside churches for Sunday evening Taizé worship services.image

The services will be held Sunday, Feb. 8 and March 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 327 E. Edison Ave.

All are welcome!

Taizé worship includes simple repetitive musical lines based on Biblical texts, along with moments of silence for spiritual reflection.
