Outreach to India

Our Saviour’s is partnering with one of our young people in December to provide help in India. Through working on a senior project to assist an orphange in India, a student from OSELC learned lepers in India have a great need for gauze and antibiotic ointment.image

Through the month of December, OSELC is collecting gauze, ointment and/or money ($20) for medical kits to aid a village in India dealing with leprosy. The material or money can be left at OSELC.

For more information or to help, call 837-8055 or 882-1898.

– Sign ups underway for purchases of Christmas greens and poinsettias.

– Sunday, Dec. 14, church cleaning for the Advent season.

– Wednesday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve candlelight service @ 7:30 p.m.

– Thursday, Dec. 25, Christmas service @ 10 a.m.

Doubly thankful

On Sunday, Nov. 23, OSELC will share in two opportunities to express gratitude during this season of thanksgiving.

After worship service that morning, WELCA members will host a Thanksgiving luncheon at OSELC.

Then at 6 p.m. that Sunday evening OSELC will participate in the annual community Thanksgiving service at the Sunnyside High School auditorium.

All are welcome to join us that day in sharing the spirit of Thanksgiving!

(Ice) Bucket Brigade

This morning after worship service several at OSELC participated in an ice bucket challenge to honor our longtime friend and sister Sonja McDaniel, who is battling ALS. In her name we raised more than $1,00image0 for ALS research

God bless you Sonja and Dennis on your move to Seattle. Please know you are loved and will very much be missed!

Game night!

OSELC will again host a game night on Saturday, Oct. 25, starting at 5:30 p.m.

All are welcome to share in the fun and fellowship (and snacks!) during game night.

Bring your favorite card or board game and join us!image

Blessing of the Animals

In the fine tradition of St. Francis od Assissi, Our Saviour’s has been invited to partnerimage with other churches to hold a Blessing of the Animals service.

We’ll meet together at Central Park at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14. All are invited, as are their pets, for this time of blessing!

Meet your neighbors

National Night Out, an effort to have neighbor meet neighbor to build relationships and discourage crime will be held in Sunnyside on Tuesday, Aug. 5.image

OSELC will host a National Night Out block party from 6 to 8 p.m.  We’ll have lots of food…everything from hamburgers to watermelon to cake…plus a raffle for free items such as a pinata, free coupons and school supplies.

But wait, there’s more! We’ll also have face painting and games for the kids.

And….we’ll even have a fire truck visit!

So stop by, get acquainted with your Harrison Hill neighbors and enjoy  the night out.
